Mishti Doi is Bengali Dessert Dish that is organised from West Bengal Kolkata. The Doi is also known as curd and yoghurt. Mishti Dohi / Doi is most famous in Odisha, Assam and Kolkata but it got famous in the nearest state even. 

The Bong Bengali traditionally make Misti Doi. Seeing the colour of doi it starts watering🤤!!

The Bengali make this mishti doi on any special occasions or any event like Durga puja, Birthday Party etc.

As I am bengali even I prepared Mishti Doi on special occasions or if there is more milk available I make Doi instead of wasting it, even you can do the same thing.

As we know that Doi that is curd is good for health. It keeps our body healthy and in diet also we add curd as the main ingredient.

After Mishti Doi next famous dish is Rasgulla. The rasgulla is a sweet dish that is the most famous in Kolkata, Orissa and Assam now it got the most popular in all over the country.

Well, most people in West Bengal eat Doi with plain rice by adding a little bit of salt because it keeps our digestive system cool or some people have it as a dessert. 

And even I have Mishti Doi and rice it is so delighted and I think even you should try it!!

In Bengal Mishti Doi is the most famous sweet as well as dessert dish and rather than mishti doi there are more than 4 to 5 famous sweet dish.

About recipe:

Preparing Mishti Doi at home is very simple just you need 3 ingredients, with the help of that mishti doi is make like Bengal style.

At the time of making few points need to keep in mind:

  1. It's important to prepare Hung curd because it should not be watery 
  2. At the time of melting the sugar and as soon as it attained the colour don't heat it further because it may burn and give a better taste.
  3. At the time of adding milk need to be careful 
  4. It is important to whisk the curd for avoiding lumps.

For making Mishti Doi I used sugar and it's not compulsory to follow this sugar measurement, you can add or used sugar according to you are taste but at the time of melting sugar, 3/4 need to melt and 1/4 need to add at last at the time of cooking.

If you want you can even use plan jaggery. And in any of the points if you find sugar granules then don't worry it will get dissolve while cooking it!!

For making the Doi (curd) we used a clay bowl because it absorbs moister and makes Mishti Doi thick and used aluminium foil for covering.

Ingredients required :

  • 4/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 little milk
  • 1/2 Curd

Now let's see How to make Mishti Doi step by step :

 Step 1:  Firstly let make hung curd

For that 

Step 2: Take a strainer to add 1/2 cup curd 

( to remove excess water till that time let's make a mixture of milk and sugar)

Step 3: Now take a pan / Kada add 3/4 cup of sugar and caramelise/melt in ( medium flame and keep stirring it)

Melt sugar nicely till colour turn into brown colour 

Step 4: Then add 1 litre of milk and mix all gently and cook for 7 to 8 min ( in middle stir it)

Step 5: After that add the remaining sugar 1/4 cup mix it and cook for more than 7 to 8 min ( stir occasionally).

Step 6: After that mixture is ready, now let it cool 

( it should be warm)

Step 7: Now the hung curd it read, take out in a bowl, used hand whiskey to make it smooth.

Step 8: The add warm milk (mixture) and mix it well.

Step 9: Now take clay bowl fill with mixture cover it with Aluminium foil and keep it in a warm place at least for 8 to 10 hour or overnight.

Then also keep 4-5 hour in the refrigerator before serving and it looks amazing and delicious and also tasty.
