Cauliflower curry recipe - step by step

Cauliflower curry is an instant Bengali recipe. This recipe is quite simple. Many people make cauliflower curry differently in a different style. The cauliflower curry is also known as full gobi sabzi or gobi ki sabzi.


Well during winter cauliflower is loved by many people. With help of cauliflower that is a gobi, we can make many varieties of the dish. Especially in Kolkata during winter they make full gobi kichadi and enjoy it.

I learn this recipe from my mother, though to share and if you try this recipe seriously you will love it!!

About recipe: 

Gobi ki sabzi/cauliflower curry is a delight full curry. This curry can serve with Roti, Rice or puri. 


At the time of making this recipe keep the consistency of gravy according to your convenience because if you are serving with rice see that consistency is more.


The cauliflower curry can even serve which there is a guest at home or during lunch and dinner hour.

Gobi ki sabzi/cauliflower curry

Gobi ki sabzi/cauliflower curry

Basic Ingredients required:

  • 1/2 tbsp of cumin powder
  • 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1/3 tbsp gram masala, 
  • 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
  •  salt as per taste
  • A few tbsp sugars
  •  1 tbsp ghee 
  • 2 chopped potato
  • 2 chopped onion
  • Cauliflower
  • 4 green chilli
  • 8 to 9 cloves
  • Few gingers
  • Muster oil


Now let's see How to make Cauliflower curry/ Gobi ki sabzi step by step

Step 1: Firstly, Chopped cauliflower, chopped 2 potatoes, medium size chopped 2 onions, 4 green chillies, 8 to 9 garlic cloves and few gingers chopped.

Step 2: Now make a  fine paste of chopped onion, green chillies, garlic and ginger. 

(At the time of grinding add a Little bit of water)

Step 3: For cooking take a pan to add 2 tbsp muster oil heat it then adds chopped cauliflower, add salt a bit and 1 pin turmeric, add 1 tbsp sugar fry it till the colour turns into light brown.

( then take them out on a plate)

Step 4: Next let's fry chopped potatoes by adding a little bit of salt and turmeric a bit.

( get them till colour turn into light Brown and after frying take them out on a plate)

Used the remaining oil by adding 3 tbsp oil

Step 5:  Add 2 bay leaves, add 2 dry red chilli powder, 1 small cinnamon stick, add few cumin seeds fry them all slightly.

Step 6: Then add onion paste, add tomato paste, add 1 tbsp cumin seeds, 1/2 tbsp coriander powder, add 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder, add salt as per taste and one pin turmeric powder mixes all species and cook well.

Step 7: After that add fry cauliflower mix with cook species and cook for 3 min then add fry potatoes mix it well.

(Cook for 6 to 7 min)

Step 8: Now add 300 ml water and cover the pan add cook for 8 to 10 min.

( keep the consistency of gravy according to your convenience)

At last sprinkle some coriander on top before serving.

The tasty Bengali style cauliflower curry is ready to serve it!!
