Payesh recipe || Bengali style Kheer recipe|| Rice Payasam recipe

 Payesh is a Bengali dish that I am sharing with you all. This is also known as kheer in Hindi. In Bengal payesh dish is prepared on any occasion but especially during the special occasion and this serves even to devotees.

Kheer/Payesh is prepared differently in different religions in different ways, so I am sharing Bengali style and in Bengal, the payesh is served after the main course.

About the recipe:

Making this payesh dish is simple. I used toned milk if you want you can use low-fat milk even and instead of sugar I used jaggery batasha is also known as sugar drop, you can even sugar.

Ingredients required:

  • 50g Batasha
  • 1 liter Milk
  • 50g Rice
  • 100g Milk powder
  • Bay leaves
  • Few Cashew nut 
  • Few Kishmish
  • Cardamon


Now lets see How to make Payesh/ kheer step by step:

Step 1: Take 1 litre of toned milk to heat it for a while.

Step 2: After that take out 4 to 5 medium tbsp of milk and place in containers and keep aside.

Step 3: Then boil the remaining milk also add 1 bay leaf, add 1 pin of cardamon powder and boil it.

( in middle keep stirring)

Step 4: Now take milk to add 100gm milk powder mix it well.

Step 5: Take a bowl add 50gm rice and mash them lightly and add 1 tbsp ghee and mix it well

Step 6: Then add that rice to boil mix, add milk powder mixed mix them 

(Cook in medium flame and stir till rice are not cook)

Step 7: Then add batasha 50gm and mix them 

( cook them in low flame)

Step 8: After cooked let it cool

Step 9: Take another pan add 1tbsp ghee heat it then adds a little bit of cashew nut, adds skirmish and roasted them for 1 min.

Step 10: After that add that roasted cashew nut and skirmish to kheer/ payesh.

The delicious Payesh is ready to serve it!!
