Janmashtami is the festival of Lord Krishna which is celebrated on 29th August 2021 at night 12 o'clock and it's followed by 30th august 2021. On that day they will be various competitions held for kids as well as for adults and the most important game will be Dahi handi on 30th August 2021. The festival marks the birth of Lord Krishna on a fortnight in the month of Bhadrapada in India.
On Krishna Janmashtami, they will be an event of dhai handi. Handi indicates a pot filled with milk, curd, butter, fruit, chocolate, and water. which is hung at a convenient height and imitating the action of kid Krishna's as well as adults. On that pot sometimes it will be prize money as well. It is a festival of joy. And the people make varieties of sweets at home and serve them to Lod Krishna. Mostly they will be homemade sweets. The sweets are Laddu, Kalakan Curd, gopal kala, etc.
What is Gopal kala?
The gopalkala dish falls on the savory side according to Puranas. On the day of Krishna Janmashtami, the lord Krishna would sit down with all of his friends for lunch and his mother Devaki serve gopal kala. In that, the main ingredient is fruit and poha.
At the time of preparing janmashtami sweets you can also prepaid Gopal kala/ Gopalkala. I have shared the gopal kala recipe. In this, I have used fruits like apples and pomegranate only if you want you can add your favorite fruits. You can add this to your diet plan also it keeps our stomach full and it's good for health as well.

Ingredients required:
- Poha 1/2 cup
- 1/2 cup chopped apple
- 1/4 cup gram pulses
- 1/2 cup finely chopped cucumber
- 1/2 pomegranate
- 1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
- 3 cup rice lahi (dhan ki lahi)
- Salt
- 5 to 7 curry leaves
- 2 chopped green chili
- 1 tbsp grinded sugar into powder
- 1 tbsp mango pickle
- 1 cup yogurt
Step 1: Firstly wash 1/2 cup poha and strain the water and let it rest for 10 to 15 min before using
Step 2: Take a bowl to add soaked poha to it
Step 3: Add a chopped apple to it
Step 4: Add soaked gram pulses, add chopped cucumber, add pomegranate seeds, add green chilies, add salt as per taste, add sugar powder, add 1 tbsp mango pickle, add few coriander leaves, add curry leaves, add 1 cup yogurt, and mixed all ingredients well
Step 5: Then add lahi to it mix it again well
Now gopalkala is ready
Step 6: For garnishing add sprinkle coriander leave and pomegranate seeds on top
At last the Gopal kala is ready to serve!!
