Khaman Dhokla is a Gujarati dish and it's popular in Gujarat also in Rajasthan but now it's popular in all of the states. The dhokla is a sponge dish and it's loved by every age group and many people want to try different dishes from different states. But it's not possible to visit all 26 states and taste the food. So, mostly different states dishes are now easily available in each state and at the same time, it's not possible to eat every time outside food only. 


For that, we try to the prepaid dish at home and enjoy with friends and family. As today I am going to share Khaman Dhokla which is very simple and easy in preparing at home and very delicious in eating, You can pack this Dhokla in the lunch box also and if you are traveling to any palace you can carry Dhokla.

As I have already shared 2 recipes Dhokla that is Idli Dhokla and Puha Dhokla like that only this Khaman Dhokla is very easy and simple. Just you need to follow some tips at the time of making the Dhokla.

About Recipe:

The Khaman Dhokla is very sponge and soft in nature. It is prepaid by using Gram Flour that is also known as Besan. You can use any brand of Gram flour and it will be easily available in every grocery shop. At the time of making Dhokla, I used cake tin if cake tin is not available then you can use the Streel tiffin box also.

I have used some common basic ingredients only that are mostly available at home. For making spongy I have used Eno you can even use baking powder also and I also added hot oil in the batter because to get moisture. And I have made this dish in Kadai you can make in Oven also. For that same step, you need to follow and need to directly place the cake tin in the Microvae oven and keep the medium temperature for 15 to 20 min.

Some tip you are suggested :

  • Add little by little water at the of mixing
  • At the time of mixing, batter rotated the batter in one direction only for 10 to 15 min 
  • Before making batter it's important to strain the flour
  • Mixed the batter such a way that they should not be any lumps 
  • After the dhokla is cook used a Knife or toothpick to check the it
  • If the toothpick stick you get clear after pocking then the Dhokla is ready

Ingredients required:

  • 1 cup Gram flour( Besan)
  • Salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp turmeric
  • 4 finely chopped green chilies
  • 1 tbsp chopped ginger
  • 1/2 tbsp heeng mix
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup water
  • oil
  • 1 tbsp Eno
  • sugar
  • 1 tbsp mustard seeds
  • curry leaves
  • 4-6 green chili 
  • 1 lemon juice

Now let's see How I made the Khaman Dhokla recipe Step by Step:

Step 1: Firstly, Take a bowl then strain the 1 cup gram flour (besan)

Step 2: Then to that add salt as per taste, add 1 tbsp sugar, add 1/2 tbsp turmeric, add 4 finely chopped green chilies, add 1 tbsp chopped ginger, add 1/2 tbsp heeng mix all the ingredients well also add 1 tbsp lemon juice, and make a smooth batter.

Step 3: Then take a Kada to add 1 cup of water then place a stand cove that with lid and preheat it for 10 min in low flame.

Step 4: Now take a cake tin grease 4 side with oil and add 1 tbsp hot refined oil to the batter and mix it, also add at the end 1 tbsp Eno and mix batter well.

Step 5: Now transfer the batter into the tin and tap a little bit, then place that tin into preheat the water and cover it with lid and cook for 15 to 20 min in low to medium flame.

Step 6: After 20 min the dhokla is ready off the flame and cover it with a lid and cold it to room temperature for 10 min.

Step 7: Then take a knife cut from 4 sides, then on tin place one plate and flip it then cut the dhokla on a square shape.

Now let's make tadka for that

Step 8: Take a pan to add 2 tbsp oil heat it

Step 9: Then add 1 tbsp mustard seeds, add 10-20 curry leaves, add 4-6 green chilies to fry all in low flame.

Step 10: After it fried I am adding 1 cup water, 2 tbsp sugar, add 1 tbsp lemon juice, and add 1 tbsp salt as per taste mix and bring it to a boil.

( cool it as a room temperature)

Then tadka is ready

Step 11: Then spread that tadka on top of the dhokla gently.

At last, the Khaman Dhokla is ready to serve it!!
