Ragda patties recipe - step by step

Ragda patties are famous in Mumbai. It's one of the famous streets food and now it's available in Indian restaurant also. The ragda patties are loved by all age groups. 


If you went to Mumbai then you must eat vada pav, Ragda patties, Chhole bhature etc. There is the common chaat which is famous in Mumbai. Now Ragda Patties is famous in Hyderabad, Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan and many more. 


But each place has a different speciality of food like Mumbai and Delhi famous for Chaat, Hyderabad is famous for Briyani, Kolkata is famous for Sweets etc in this way every state have its speciality.


But due to increasing in Covid cases, we can't visit any place with our friends and family. So, we are at home for our production and yes, we are even bored staying at home and to keep apart busy we try to prepare some different kind of dishes or evening snacks at home.


So, I am going to share the recipe for ragda patties. Which you can prepare during evening time and enjoy with your are family members. I am sure about it they are going to love it.


About recipe:

This is a chaat recipe and chaat are loved by everyone. And preparing this dish is quite simple and easy almost all the ingredients are available at home. If the ingredient is not there at home then you can purchase it from you are nearest grocery shop. 


For preparing this dish you need to soak 250 gm white cana overnight, and then the next day wash it well and press cook it for 3 whistles so, that the cana should be soft at the time of making ragda. You can even press cook according to you as well. 


If you forget to soak overnight then soak 5 to 6 hours in hot water before you start preparing it. In ragda patties, the ragda play an important role. The will you prepared ragda the will it's taste delicious.


I have made patties of potato by adding some spices so, that it's a taste well. 

For ragda patties, I didn't do deep fry but you can do deep fry and made it crisp and can serve with Tomatoes sauce or Green chutney or with Masala tea only patties. It's taste delicious.

Ragda Patties


Ingredients required:

  • Boiled potato 3
  • Salt
  • 1 tbsp turmeric
  • Coriander leave
  • Oil
  • 1 tbsp crushed ginger and garlic 
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp coriander seeds powder
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 250 grams soak and press cook white can't

Now let see Home to make Ragda Pattie's step by step:

First, let's make patties

Step 1: Take a bowl, add 3 mash boiled potato, add a few coriander leaves, a bit turmeric powder and add salt as per taste and mix all well.

( the potato dough is ready)

Step 2: Now, let's make a small flats ball of the dough one by one.

Step 3: Take a pan to add 3 to 4 tbsp oil hear it then fry those flats ball. 

(After one side is golden then flip and fry another side)

The patties are ready.

For Ragda

Step 4: Take a pan to add 2 to 3 tbsp oil, heat it then adds 1 tbsp crushed ginger and garlic, add 1 chopped onion salt as per taste, add 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder and few coriander leaves mixes it well.

( cook till onion are soft )

Step 5: Then add 1 tbsp cumin seeds, add 1 tbsp coriander seeds powder, add 1 tbsp red chilli powder, add cooked white chana mix well and add a little bit of water.

(Cook for at least for one boil)

At least the ragda is ready!!

Step 6: Now take a serving plate, place patties on top add ragda, add some green chutney, add some sweet chutney and sprinkle some sev, few coriander leaves.

At last, the Ragda patties is ready to serve it!!
