The kul is also known as plum Chinese date in English and Hindi its know as Bar. In India, it's considered of type of fruit. The kul can be eaten only like that with slat, it gives taste by itself, only. In Kolkata, most people like to eat kul chutney with Hot, steamed rice or else with papad.
In India culture, there is something like ", khane ke bad Kuchh Meetha ho jaaye". So, most Bengali people like to have chutney after there complete the" main course" or else with "Hot steamed rice".

They are varieties of chutney like Tomatoes chutney, kul chutney, Mango chutney.... etc. Each people have a different way of making it.
So, I am sharing an easy and authentic way of making " kul chutney". For preparing kul chutney I am using jaggery instead of sugar, you can use sugar also ( if jaggery is not available). The reason why I have used jaggery because it gives the perfect taste as well as the flavours of kul chutney.
You can even make this recipe when you have guests to have lunch or dinner together.

Now let see how to make Kul chutney/ Plum Chinese date step by step:
Ingredients required:
- 300 gm kul
- 1 tsp of mustard oil
- 1/2 tsp panch phoron
- Salt as per taste
- 1/2 kg jaggery
Step 1: Firstly take 300 gm Kul( plum Chinese date) wash it nicely.
Step 2: Now take a pan to add 1 tsp of cooking oil, heat it then add 1/2 tsp of panch phoron (5 spices)
Step 3: After that add kul and fry for 1 min, then add a little bit of water also add salt as per taste.
( Boil for 10 min)
Step 4: After boiling add melted jaggery
(used according to the taste)
Then mix it well and boil for another 10 minutes.
At last, the Kul chutney is ready to serve it!!
